Consultation has concluded

The Road Safety Commission is currently trialing the use of the latest mobile safety camera technology to test its suitability on WA roads, and its potential to make our roads safer for everyone.

The safety cameras can identify a number of high-risk behaviours at once including speeding, both spot speed and average speed, using a mobile phone while driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

Under the three-month trial, six mobile cameras will be tested on a range of roads in metropolitan and regional areas.

No infringements will be issued during the trial.

The Road Safety Commission has worked with the camera operator to identify over 80 safe locations for the cameras to be trialed that allow a wide variety of data to be collected. Where possible, priority has been given to roads where crashes resulting in death or serious injury have occurred.

Use the map below if you would like to contribute a suggested location or locations!

Road Safety Commission is currently trialing the use of the latest mobile safety camera technology to test suitability on WA roads and make our roads safer for everyone.

The safety cameras can identify a number of high-risk behaviours at once including speeding, both spot speed and average speed, using a mobile phone while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.

Six mobile cameras will be trialed for three months on a range of roads in metro and regional areas within 200km of Perth.

During this trial period no infringements will be issued.
